Labour gain from SNP

A by-election was held for the Coatbridge North and Glenboig ward of North Lanarkshire Council on 22 September 2016 following the resignation of SNP Cllr Fulton MacGregor, after his election to the Scottish Parliament for the constituency of Coatbridge and Chryston.

A previous by-election for this ward was held on 27 October 2011, covered here.

Alex McVey gained the seat for Labour.
