Elderslie by-election, 2006

Labour hold

A by-election was held for the Elderslie ward of Renfrewshire Council on 7 December 2006 following the death of Labour Cllr Jean Goldie.

John Caldwell held the seat for Labour.

This was the last Scottish local by-election to be contested using the First Past the Post system. In May 2007, local council wards in Scotland were re-organised into three- or four-seat wards elected by Single Transferable Vote.
