Labour gain from SNP

A by-election was held for the Irvine West ward of North Ayrshire Council on 11 August 2016 following the resignation of SNP Cllr Ruth Maguire after being elected as the new MSP for Cunninghame South.

Louise McPhater gained the seat for Labour.
