Kirkwall West and Orphir by-election, 2014

New Independent gain from Independent

A by-election was held for the Kirkwall West and Orphir ward of Orkney Islands Council on 27 November 2014 following the resignation of Independent Cllr Jack Moodie.

Laurence Leonard died during the campaign, but as he was standing as an Independent candidate he remained on the ballot paper and the election continued as scheduled.

Leslie Manson gained the seat as a new Independent.
